Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Hello@belighthouse.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The Lighthouse app will always be free to download and use.

All core safety features, support tools, and essential functions will remain completely free. We may offer additional optional features in the future, but these will never be required to access the main purpose of the app.

Safety should never depend on what someone can afford.

We use identity verification and enhanced background checks for users who choose to become Lighthouses.

There are multiple ways to verify your identity, and the level of verification determines how you can use the app. For example, fully verified users may be able to act as a Lighthouse or receive in-person support, while partially verified users may be directed to trusted public spaces or services.

This allows us to keep the system accessible, while prioritizing safety for everyone involved.

Safety is our highest priority.

Users who choose to become Lighthouses go through more rigorous verification and screening. When a connection is made, both the person seeking support and the Lighthouse are checked in on multiple times through the app.

If responses are missed or something doesn’t feel right, the system escalates—alerting additional contacts and, where necessary, emergency services.

The goal is not just connection, but accountability and continuous support.

The Lighthouse Project is designed to work beyond just a phone.

We aim to integrate with existing smart devices such as watches, while also developing our own discreet wearable technology through Eve & Lil.

This could include pieces that allow for quick activation, automatic alerts, or additional safety triggers—offering support even in situations where accessing a phone isn’t possible.

From smart watches to AI necklaces and tearaway charms, we hope to create something meaningful that can support any woman in any situation.

We are building safeguards into the system from the start.

Verification levels, monitoring, and layered check-ins help prevent misuse. If behavior is flagged or reported, accounts can be restricted or removed.

This is not an anonymous system—it is built on accountability.

User safety includes data protection.

Information is only shared when necessary and is handled securely. Location and alerts are activated only when triggered by the user or required for safety purposes.

We prioritise both privacy and protection.

The Lighthouse Project is built to be inclusive, supportive, and safe for all women and those within the LGBTQ+ community.

At the same time, we recognize that safety is also about personal comfort and trust.

Users will be able to set preferences around who they are matched with, and the system will take this into account when connecting people. This allows us to respect individual boundaries while still maintaining an inclusive and supportive network.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone using the platform feels safe, respected, and able to access support in a way that works for them.

We are building a model designed to grow.

Starting locally, expanding through partnerships with businesses, institutions, and communities, and supported by a hybrid funding model.

The system becomes stronger as more people and places join it.

So YOU are how we really scale it, by talking and sharing what we are doing.

We are in the early stages of building and development.

The concept, structure, and ecosystem are in place, and we are actively working toward building, testing, and scaling the platform with the right partners. Finding funding and creating the needed connections.
